JBS United Inc. Records Program

Records Report

In the early 1970's, Tom Bache, an employee with JBS United Inc., had a vision that producers would need a user-friendly method to accurately track production expenses and efficiencies simultaneously to make management decisions.

Tom initially developed what has evolved over time to become known as the JBS United Inc. Records Program. For over thirty years this program has been providing producers both valuable economic and production information based on customer inputs with the comfort of knowing that each producer's information is also kept confidential.

When the record began, it was a one page hand calculated Farrow to Finish report completed by Tom himself. This report gave producers basic information of feed costs, cash costs and a few production numbers.

As technology evolved, and producers became aware of the value the program brought to their operation, JBS United Inc. was able transition the program to a DOS based computer system. With this change in place, JBS United Inc. was able to provide a three page report with more detail to our customers needs while also providing them a quicker turnaround time to aid in management decisions.

Starting in the early-mid 1990's, the record program made a significant transition to become adaptive to an ever changing industry. Many producers were beginning to transition farms into a Wean to Finish or Breed to Wean production facility. Knowing that producers would continue to desire data to aid in decision making, JBS United Inc. invested in creating both a Wean to Finish and Breed to Wean records report.

Today, JBS United Inc. maintains a commitment to producers by offering them three reports: Farrow to Finish, Wean to Finish and Breed to Wean. In addition, producers are also receiving a summary report each quarter. This report allows producers the ability to benchmark their operation with others in the industry while maintaining the confidentiality of their operation.

JBS United Inc. is currently serving hundreds of record customers quarterly in the United States and with recent interest globally, introduced the program in Asia. This program continues to evolve and meet the demands of our industry, while keeping a strong focus on Tom Bache's original goal of keeping a producers operation competitive.
